Press Release
The Foothills is an acoustic trio from Chattanooga, TN whose collective interests and abilities have led to a unique statement within the Americana musical tradition. While mainly relying on bluegrass instrumentation, the band constantly experiments with sounds, instruments, and genres while maintaining an artistic vision that is authentic to the group.
The band sometimes draws comparisons to contemporaries like Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers, and the Steeldrivers for its Southern perspective and honest, thought-provoking lyrics that don't flinch when addressing the challenging realities of life.
Album Overview
With their third album release, Twenty-First Century Blues, the band continues a story arc they began with their two previous albums, Shadow of the Mountain and Rest Easy. Cumulatively, the albums show a Southern man struggling to find peace from his own decisions and a world that's rapidly growing more complex. OnTwenty-First Century Blues, the band wrestles with some of the major social topics of our time while weaving threads of hope and resilience throughout the album.
Along with outstanding contributions from drummer Ivan Garcia (Strung Like A Horse), keyboardist Brett Nolan (The Communicators/Milele Roots), and banjo extraordinaire Randy Steele (High Cold Wind/Slim Pickins), Twenty-First Century Blues displays The Foothills at peak form.
